The 26th match of Australia T20 league will witness a fierce encounter between Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers at the Simonds Stadium, South Geelong in Victoria. The fixture will take place on January 7 at 1:40 PM IST. Both teams are coming in this match on back of loss. Both Renegades and Scorchers are currently standing at the bottom half of the points ladder. This will be the second encounter face-off these two teams in this season. Perth Scorchers came out victorious in the previous clash between these two.
The Melbourne Renegades’ campaign is yet to take off in the 2019-20 edition of the Big Bash League. Having lost all their six matches, Aaron Finch and Co. are languishing at the bottom of the points table. In their last encounter, Renegades were beaten comprehensively by their city rival, Melbourne Stars, in the season’s first Melbourne derby. Renegades’ batting again scumbled under pressure as they managed to score a below par 142. Stars chased down the target pretty comfortably at the end thanks to Maxwell (40*) and Stoinis (68*) attacking innings.
Perth Scorchers have had pretty similar fortunes in this year’s tournament. After suffering defeat in the last match, Scorchers slipped to seventh spot with four losses and two wins. In their last match, the Scorchers were outdone by Hobart Hurricanes by eight runs. Scorchers paid heavily for sloppy fielding in the first half as D’Arcy Short smashed an explosive century which included seven sixes. The target of 181 wounded up being just out of reach for the Scorchers despite a valiant effort by skipper Mitchell Marsh.
