For the second month in a row, an Indian player won the prestigious ICC player of the month award. For this month, Ravichandran Ashwin bagged the award for his remarkable performance in the India-England Test series. Rishabh Pant recently won the player of the month award for January.
He scored a fine hundred in Chennai to help Team India to bounce back in the series after the defeat in the opening Test. He also completed his 400th Test wicket in the third Test at Ahmedabad. He scored 176 runs and picked 24 wickets in February.
England’s Tammy Beaumont was awarded the Women’s player of the month award for February. She aggregated 231 runs against New Zealand in the ODI series.
Ian Bishop said, “Ashwin’s consistent wicket-taking, even in helpful conditions have helped to put his team ahead in a very important series. His century in the second Test was as critical as it came when England were trying to claw their way back into the match. That knock ensured that India shut the door on the opposition.”
