On the last of the trade window, we have witnessed some major changes. One of the most important news that made its way upfront was Ajinkya Rahane the former captain of Rajasthan Royals being traded to Delhi Capitals.
Rahane, recognized as the most-capped player from Rajasthan Royals, has been with the team for 9 seasons now and has played about 100 games for the team while captaining the team on 24 occasions. All during the period 2011 to 2015 and again in 2018 and 2019. Apart from his association with the team as a player and captain, he has also contributed greatly with the bat.
During his association with Rajasthan Royals, Rahane has scored 2810 runs at an average of 34.26 and a strike rate of 122.65, including 2 centuries and 17 half-centuries. He was also tagged as the top run-scorer for the team. However, everything seems to come at rest as the player has been moved to Delhi Capitals on the last day of the Indian T20 League trading.
Rajasthan Royals agreed to trade Ajinkya Rahane in place of Mayank Markande with Delhi Capitals who was traded to Delhi Capitals by Mumbai Indians after the 12th season of the Indian T20 League.
"I am extremely honoured to welcome one of India's most stellar and consistent batsmen, Ajinkya Rahane, to the DC family. When the franchise underwent a revamp last year, a decision was made to keep Indian players at its core. The result was there for everyone to see, with the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Ishant Sharma performing brilliantly for us, and complimenting the youth that DC has in Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw, among others," Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal said.
"That thought process has continued for us this time around as well, as is evident in the signing of Ravichandran Ashwin, followed by that of Ajinkya Rahane. I am sure Rahane's wealth of experience, and familiarity with the conditions will help Delhi Capitals go a long way in IPL 2020," Jindal added.
