AB de Villiers responds to Kohli’s epic knock against WI

Apart from the stunning performances on field that led to India’s splendid victory, Virat Kohli-Kesrick Williams’ banter also turned out to be the talking point of the recently concluded T20I series between India and West Indies. Kohli and Williams’ rivalry was quite evident throughout the series with their unique styles of mocking each other on field. But in the third and final series decider T20I match, Virat seems to have got the last laugh with his ‘wow’ expression, after he hit Williams for an amazing six with just a flick of wrists. But the moment received worldwide attention when ace batsman AB de Villiers reacted to it.

It all started in Hyderabad when Kohli first took revenge from Williams and mimicked his trademark ‘notebook’ celebration style, as Williams did during a T20I match in Jamaica in 2017. Williams stuck to a silent celebration in the following match in Thiruvananthapuram and shushed the crowd after getting Kohli out. The spat came to an end with Virat’s ultimate face expression that he gave while staring at the right-arm pacer in Mumbai. His gesture depicted that he enjoyed the six that contributed to his fiery knock – 70 runs in just 29 balls.

A Twitter user shared Kohli’s expressive photo and captioned it, “He has definitely picked this from @ABdeVilliers17”. The photo started making rounds on social media when former South Africa captain De Villiers saw the tweet and replied, addressing Virat as ‘brother.’

Kohli and Villiers share a cordial friendship beyond the pitch. The two unparalleled players have become the core of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the IPL. They are also the only two batsmen who registered two double century partnerships to their name in the high-octane league.

Though De Villiers has retired from international cricket, he continues to participate in various T20 leagues all over the world and was last seen playing in the Africa T20 League latest edition.
