Man United will host Leicester in Premier League 2020-21 tonight at Old Trafford to delay Man City’s title celebration. United edged past Aston Villa 3-1 while Leicester are coming off a 4-2 defeat to Newcastle.

After overcoming Villa in an away fixture, Man United is back at home and will face Leicester. Their one home game against Liverpool was postponed and now Red Devils will play two back-to-back games in Premier League. They came from one goal and bounced back in the second half to edge past Villa 3-1 on Sunday. Bertrand Traore’s opening goal almost sealed Man City’s title victory but Bruno Fernandes’ 25th goal for United, followed by the double strike from Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani kept United in the hunt for the title.
It’s confirmed United will finish second in the points table but they can delay Man City’s title party. Chelsea defeated Man City last week to assure United to hold the party for one more week. If they lose, City will clinch the title. United are now 10 points behind to arch-rivals City with four games in hand. One defeat will end all the hopes for United and if they want to take this fight at the end of the season, they would also hope for a poor show from City in their upcoming games. Red Devils are unbeaten from the last 14 games and they have won six of their previous PL matches.
Meanwhile, Leicester’s top-four finish got a big blow after suffering a 4-2 loss to Newcastle last week. The Magpies had a 4-0 lead at one stage but Marc Albrighton and Kelechi Iheanacho added two goals in the last few minutes to avoid the big defeat. Leicester has now suffered three defeats in six matches and one more defeat at Old Trafford may haunt their Champions League qualification goal.
West Ham also lost to Everton on Sunday so Rodgers’ men can hope for a comeback. Chelsea’s win against City sent Blues on number three and they are likely to finish third in the table. Liverpool overcame Southampton 2-0 and they are also in the race for the fourth spot. One thing favour Leicester as they are five points ahead of Hammers and six-point ahead of Reds. Both sides appeared in a competitive 2-2 draw last year on boxing day and Rodger’s side won their last game at Old Trafford in 2014.
