First Innings (Delhi 159/4)
Hyderabad rested injured Bhuvi to hand the debut to Suchith and Delhi included Axar Patel in place of Lalit Yadav. Delhi made a fluent start and scored 51 in powerplay without losing a wicket. Prithvi completed his second half-century of the season and Rashid Khan provided the breakthrough with the wicket of Dhawan who scored 28. In the next over, Shaw also got run out. In middle-overs, Hyderabad controlled runs and the duo of Pant and Smith put a good stand of 58 runs for the 3rd wicket but acceleration was missing. Smith remained not out on 34 and Pant contributed 37. Pant also completed his 2000 runs in Indian T20 League. After taking 14 off the final over, Delhi managed to get 159 on board. Kaul bagged two and Rashid picked one wicket for Hyderabad.
Second Innings (Hyderabad 159/7)
Hyderabad’s start was fabulous but they lost Warner early with a run-out. Bairstow showed power with the bat and scored 38 off just 38 balls with 4 sixes. Avesh Khan picked the dangerous wicket of Bairstow. Pant introduced spin and Williamson took the charge in middle-overs with Virat Singh. At the halfway mark, Hyderabad were 80/2. Avesh Khan bagged his second as he got Virat Singh after 14-ball 4. Mishra sent Jadhav into the pavilion with the help of a good stumping by Pant. Williamson also completed his 16th half-century in Indian T20 League. Axar Patel picked two wickets in two balls to put Delhi on the driver’s seat. Avesh Khan completed his 3-wicket haul after picking Vijay Shankar and in the final over, Hyderabad required 16 to win against Rabada. Suchith played a short cameo of 15 off 6 balls and Kane played a sheet-anchor role with 66 runs to take this game into super over.
Super Over
Hyderabad sent Warner and Williamson to bat and Axar Patel got the bowl. After managing just one on the first two balls, Kane snatched a boundary on the next ball, and in the end, Hyderabad managed to get only 7 runs. For the third time, they scored less than 10 runs in super over of Indian T20 League.
Rashid Khan got the chance to defend 7 runs and Delhi sent two left-handers Pant and Dhawan. Pant’s reverse sweep four put pressure on Rashid and in the end, Delhi finished the game on the last ball.
