Detailed Match Report
First Innings (England 164/6)
India rested Dhawan and Axar to handover the T20I caps to Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav. Bhuvneshawar Kumar picked an early wicket of Buttler on a duck. Dawid Malan joined Roy and the duo avoided any blow in the powerplay. They formed a good stand of 63-runs before Chahal got the breakthrough with the wicket of Malan. Bairstow started well but Sundar trapped him on the score of 20. Jason Roy missed out another half-century as Sundar grabbed him on 49.
India’s disciplined bowling didn’t offer much acceleration and England posted 164 in full 20-overs. Sundar and Thakur picked 2 wickets each for conceding 29. Pandya also bowled full overs after a long time. Chahal and Bhuvi picked one wicket each. India lost just four games at home while chasing a target of less than 200 so India looked favourites after the first innings.
Second Innings (India 166/3)
KL Rahul lost his wicket after a 6-ball duck. Captain Kohli and debutant Ishan Kishan avoided any blow in the powerplay and India looked solid with this duo in middle. Ishan Kishan completed his half-century on his debut match. He became the fourth Indian player to score a fifty on his debut T20I innings. Adil Rashid provided a big breakthrough after dismissing Ishan Kishan on 56. Kohli, on the other hand, constructed the chase and Pant joined him. The match was in full control of India with requiring 50 odd runs with the run-rate of 6 runs per over. Kohli also completed his half-century and become the first player to score 3000 runs in T20Is. Pant scored quick 26 off 13 balls and Jordan picked him. Kohli and Iyer finished the job and India chased down the total with 13 balls spare.
Star Performer of the Match
Ishan Kishan is our star performer of the match. He became the fourth Indian player after Uthappa, Rohit, and Rahane to score a half-century in his debut T20I innings. India lost KL Rahul in the first over and Kishan delivered a fine acceleration to keep the required run-rate in control. His 32-ball 56 allowed the Indian side to dominate England.
