This season is not just about City and Liverpool, as we saw some unpredictable results in the first two months. Liverpool were also hammered by Aston Villa with a record 7-2 margin, but they bounced back to retain their top spot.
The City is unbeaten in eight games across all competitions and kept the clean sheet in their previous three wins, most recently edging past Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Pep Guardiola’s side scored nine goals this season, and this is the lowest scoring for the former champions since 2008.
The Citizens require a center-forward who can tackle Liverpool’s unit, and in the absence of Sergio Aguero, the task looks quite tricky. Gabriel Jesus would be back in teh side who scored off the bench in midweek. Man City have won nine of their last 10 Premier League meetings with the Reds, the most recent came in July this year. The task for Kloop would not be easier as Liverpool have won 11 games at home before losing to Leicester City in September.
Liverpool is entering into this away encounter with successive home wins against Sheffield United and West Ham. The defense remained a big worry sign for Kloop this season as the Reds have only kept one clean sheet in their last 12 games and shipped in 27 goals in 14 outings since the title victory. In away-fixtures, they have won just three and lost four of their previous nine league games.
