Guyana Amazon Warriors takes on St Lucia Zouks in the Sunday fixture of the Caribbean Premier League 2020.
Team Preview
Guyana emerged victorious in their last two fixtures against Patriots and Jamaica following the defeat against Trinbago in the opening game. Keemo Paul led Guyana with 4-wickets to restrict St Kitts on a mere total of 128. Hetmyer guided his side to a 3-wickets win, despite losing wickets in middle-overs. The left-hand batsman scored 71 off 44 balls and scored the second half-century of the tournament. In the previous outing, they defended a total of 118 against Jamaica after excellent bowling skills. Guyana has a good lineup but they need runs from other batsmen too, especially Pooran and King who have been poor in the first three games. The last playing XI was more compact and they put a team effort in the victory so Green would keen to end the Tarouba cycle with one more win before heading to Port of Spain.
Meanwhile, St Lucia desperately needed a win after the debacle against Jamaica in the opening game and they did it in a straightway. In the second match, the luck was in favor of Zouks as they got the task of scoring 47 off 5 overs in a rain-affected affair against Tridents and Fletcher-Nabi paced St Lucia to chase it down in 4.1 overs. In the last game, they defeated St Kitts by 10 runs, after posting the highest total of this season, riding on Fletcher's 47 and Nabi's 35. Kugglejin and Chase led the bowling unit by picking four and three wickets respectively. The middle-order is still a worrying sign for St Lucia ahead of this game as they haven’t impressed much. Sammy tried 8 bowlers against Barbados which shows the confusion for Sammy in the bowling unit but he looks more confident after the comprehensive win on Saturday.
Pitch Report
Brian Lara Stadium will host the last game of this tournament before sides will be heading to Queen’s Park Oval. The track is good to bat and a little bit of help to pacers as well. Spinners will be yet again in command as the surface gets slower later the match progresses. The weather is pretty fine and rainfall is unlikely to happen.
