Inter Milan made a super entry into the 2019-20 Europa League after complete domination over Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in Dusseldorf. The Italian Club netted five goals and conceded no goals in full time. It was a complete Martinez-Lukaku show on Monday night. The 5-0 victory to Milan is the largest result ever in a semifinal in the history of the Europa League.
Milan started off as a pure mature side and Martinez strike in the 24th minute assist by Nicola Barella to give Serie A Club 1-0 lead in the first half. In the second half, Milan was stronger against Ukrainian Giants and in 64th minute, D'Ambrosio headed a Marcelo Brozovic corner past Andriy Pyatov in the Shakhtar goal to put Milan 2-0 ahead in the game.
Martinez netted his second goal in 74th minute by the assist of Lukaku, to take Milan 3-0 in the game. Romelu Lukaku has been terrific for Milan this season and he scored goals in nine consecutive Europa League games. Until the 75th minute, Lukaku’s account was yet to be opened but Milan forward continued his record by striking twice in 78th and 82nd minutes. Lukaku has been involved in 18 goals (14 goals and 4 assists) in the last 10 Europa League matches.
Shakhtar tried to open their account but the terrible attack couldn’t draw something for them. The striker, Junior Moraes, who scored 22 goals this season, was a flop on Monday night.
The Italian Club have been really menacing from set-pieces, netting 15 times this season. Lautaro Martinez was the main hero for Inter Milan who scored two goals and added an assist for Lukaku to set up a goal in 78th minute. His shot accuracy was 100% and his 4 shots were on target.
Nerazzurri will now face Sevilla in the final on Friday and it will be the first final for Milan since 2010.
