On the first day of the ongoing second Test between England and Sri Lanka, J. Root scored his 33rd Test hundred. The former England Test captain came to bat when his team lost two wickets for 42 runs. While the right-hander went on to score a hundred, the rest of the batters failed to cross the 40-run mark. The home side, England were reduced to 216/6.
