1.187 against Australia on Test debut

During the India vs Australia Test series 2013, the 38-year-old made his debut. He replaced V. Sehwag in the playing XI, who never played for India again. Meanwhile, in a Test match in which the first day was abandoned due to rain, India still managed to win it. 

After the Aussies hit 408 runs batting first, the home side replied well, thanks to Dhawan’s 187 in just 174 balls including 33 fours and two sixes. India ended up getting 499, leading by 91 runs and bowled out the Aussies for 223 runs. Chasing 133 on the last day, they won the game by six wickets.

Ahead of this game, Dhawan had played only six games and had 69 runs to his name. Also, the Proteas attack had decent bowlers. However, the left-hander hit 114 runs in 94 balls including 12 fours and a six. This is his maiden ODI century and helped India reach 331/7. In reply, the 1998 winners were bowled out for 305.

Punjab took on 2016 winners, Hyderabad in the last year’s Indian T20 League. Batting first, the 2014 finalists lost nine wickets for 88 runs. However, their former captain scored 99 not out and helped the team reach 143/9. Even though they lost the game, Dhawan did ensure that they didn’t lose by a bigger margin.
