Brisbane will host Adelaide in the last game before Christmas break in the Australia T20 League. The campaign for Chris Lynn is not so convincing as his side lost the first two matches. The manner of the defeat in the last match questions its approach. Brisbane bowlers conceded runs easily against Daniel Sams, and his one knock made all the difference in the defeat. In the first game, batting let them down scoring just 125, and in the second game, bowlers spoiled all the batting efforts in death-overs. Chris Lynn got a brilliant half-century in the previous game, and Wildermuth smashed 31 off just 11 balls to get 178 on the board. He also picked a 3-wicket haul, but it wasn’t enough to see his side emerging winners.
The batting unit had some improvements, but Brisbane would expect some fire from the openers as well. Bowlers got a good start by picking three wickets early, and at one stage, the game was in Brisbane’s control, but Sams snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Things are pretty clear for Brisbane. They are a compact T20 side, and they need a good balance to surprise Adelaide in the home ground.
Meanwhile, Adelaide suffered two defeats from its first two matches. In the previous encounter, they were outclassed by Sydney-T, but they earned Bash Boost Point. They scored 24 runs extra in the 2nd innings in the first 10, but Sydney got three points in the end, which matters the most. After restricting Sydney on 52/2 in the first 10, Adelaide failed to carry the momentum in the next ten by conceding 125 runs with 12.5 runs per over. The debacle in flag-overs hurt Adelaide as they required 101 in the last ten, but regular wickets stopped them to cross the line. Scott was introduced as an X-factor substitute, but it didn’t work out for them as Adelaide lost by 38 runs. They have earned two Bash Points from the last two matches, and it will compensate for its defeats in the points table.
Adelaide now have five points from three games, and they have won just one. Alex Carey missed the first game and led in the next two. Siddle and Carey both performed, and Adelaide defeated Hobart, which is the only win for them. The team combination is a big issue for them. Rashid Khan is not so effective as we saw last season. They lost the match in middle-overs, and Carey has to fix this issue before it turns out to be a big headache. Skipper tried seven bowlers in the last game, and he held its key bowlers for death when others were conceding boundaries. Some flaws will be solved, and Adelaide would come stronger against Brisbane.
Pitch Report
The Gabba will host the first match of the tournament. The surface is good for batting, but it produces good bounce, which can help the pacers. Spinners can take advantage in middle-overs, but it’s not so much. Chasing would be a great call after winning the toss.
