Arsenal takes on Leicester City in the third round of the English League Cup on Wednesday night at the King Power Stadium.
Team Preview
Leicester City and Arsenal square off in the third round ties of the EFL Cup at the King Power Stadium. If Arsenal adds one more victory on Wednesday, we could see another Liverpool-Arsenal match as Liverpool will take on Lincoln City in other third-round ties. Both Leicester and Arsenal kicked off their Premier League 2020-21 on a high note, winning two out of two. Leicester City defeated West Bromwich Albion and Burnley to top the table and Arsenal edged past Fulham and West Ham United in their first two fixtures, after beating Liverpool in the Community Shield through penalty shoot-outs. Both sides are meeting for the third time in the EFL Cup and both sides have one win each in last two encounters.
Mikel Arteta's side lost each of their last three games at the King Power Stadium in all competitions but their current form put them ahead in this encounter. Meanwhile, The Foxes have lost only once from their previous 14 games in the competition and they also have made it into the quarterfinals in each of the last three editions. Arsenal have progressed to the next round every time in EFL Cup, except the early exit in 2014-15 against Southampton. Brendan Rodgers’s side would definitely gain some advantage ahead of their Premier League clash with City next weekend.
