Jamaica Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors face off one more time in today’s second affair of Caribbean Premier League 2020.
Team Preview
Guyana Amazon Warriors had the last laugh when they faced Tallawahs at Tarouba. Chris Green-led side defended a mere total of 118 after an excellent bowling effort. Guyana had a mixed campaign so far. After losing the opening game, Guyana added two straight wins over Patriots and Jamaica. In the recent outing, Guyana suffered a close defeat against St Lucia. Imran Tahir’s 3 scalps for just 22, Guayna restricted Zouks on 144. In the chase, Guyana made a pretty dull start, losing first three on just 7. Nicholas Pooran put an effort with 49-balls 68 but Chemar Holder’s tight final over snatched the victory from Warriors and they fell short of 10 runs. Guyana’s bowling unit is doing wonders but they are lacking in the batting unit which needs to be boosted if they want to rise at the top in table.
Meanwhile, Jamaica also needs a recheck after their batting debacle against Guayna last week where they failed to chase 119, despite Russell’s half-century. The early blows were so frustrating that they couldn’t recover and they finished on 104/7 in 2nd innings. Brathwaite grabbed three-wickets and Russell got runs – are two positives from their last outing. Lamicchane and Mujeeb are their key figures on spin tracks but they need support from the batting unit as well. The solid spin attack and runs from Phillips-Russell can give Jamaica an upper hand on Tuesday.
Pitch Report
Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain will host the match between Guyana and Jamaica. Being the second game of the day, the surface could provide some advantage to spinners. For batsmen, it requires some patience to bat well on this track. 150-160 will be an imposing total. The slight rainfall is also expected on Tuesday but we expect a full game.
