The reigning French Champions PSG made their first-ever Champions League Final with a comfortable 3-0 victory against RB Leipzig courtesy of strikes from Marquinhos, Angel di Maria and Juan Bernat.
Marquinhos netted the first goal of the game in the 13th minute assisted by Angel Di Maria. The PSG Forward also scored against Atalanta in the thrilling quarterfinal victory with a well-placed header.
Thomas Tuchel's men looked confident after striking the first goal. Neymar and Mbappe created opportunities for PSG and Leipzig’s defense had no answer. Angel Di Maria who came back after his suspension, made a huge impact in the game for the French Outfit. After setting up the first goal for Marquinhos, the Brazilian International scored the second goal assist by Neymar in 42nd minute. After the end of the first half, PSG was ahead with 2-0.
Nagelsmann's move to shifting from the last game’s formation was quite refreshing as he sticks to a 1-5-1 variant to pack the midfield to create opportunities for Leipzig. Marcel Sabitzer started slowly and Mauro Icardi was unsurprisingly benched. The formation couldn’t work for Nagelesmann after PSG’s two goals in the first half as the Leipzig was constantly relinquishing the ball in dangerous areas.
After a splendid first half, PSG was dominating against the German Outfit. In 56th minute, Juan Bernat scored the third goal for The French Outfit assist by Angel Di Maria to give the final nail in the coffin.
Leipzig couldn’t create any opportunity till the final minute and PSG clinched the semifinal without conceding a goal. If PSG were too clinical in the game, the score-line would have been different. PSG will now play either Bayern Munich or domestic rivals, Lyon, in the final of the UEFA Champions League.
