Barbados Tridents square off against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the second game of the opening day in the Caribbean T20 League 2020.
Team Preview
The defending champions kick start their campaign for the 9th edition with St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in Trinidad. Holder-led Barbados has included the star leg spinner Rashid Khan in the squad alongside the last season’s hero Hayden Walsh. The duo would be a threat to the opposition on a slower track. If the track offers more spin, they can go with the extra spinner, Santner or Ashley Nurse. Raymon Reifer and Nayeem Young would provide the strength in the pace attack along with skipper Holder.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots would try to better their last year’s playoff success with the new signings of Chris Lynn and Sheldon Cottrell. Chris Lynn and Evin Lewis would open for Patriots. Ben Dunk and Denesh Ramdin will be the sheet anchors in the middle-order. Due to the spinning surface, either Tanveer or Alzarri Joseph might be rested. Ish Sodhi and Imran Khan will lead the spin attack. Barbados would have an edge over St Kitts as they have the strong bowling unit which suits the conditions in Trinidad.
Pitch Report
Brian Lara Stadium will host the match between Barbados and St Kitts. Being the second match on the surface, spinners will take advantage as we can see the extra spinner in the side. A score around 160 would be an imposing total and chasing would be tricky. Weather is pretty clear on Tuesday, a perfect T20 condition.
